4.5 hours without a windscreen….try 4.5 days and 2500 miles!
I was with my parents on holiday in Southern Turkey back in 1974 when the windscreen smashed. We tried the main Chrysler dealer in Istanbul, but it would take a couple of weeks for a replacement to be sent. No point in trying in Bulgaria or Yugoslavia. Austria wanted about 5 days so we pressed on. Rain in Germany was not much fun but at least it stopped by Belgium.
The funniest thing was at the ferry terminal where in the dark the chap sticking lane markings on the cars expected there to be a windscreen and gauged the force accordingly. His hand went straight through the space where he was expecting glass to be!
