I have a few photos (see below) of the valve on a 408 and a 411. It appears that on the 408 (green car) that there is only one cable. On the 411 that is certainly the case. So maybe the valve on the 407 was different from the later V8 cars.

Whatever you do don't undo the screws which hold the heater valve bracket to the heater box - the nuts behind are NOT retained!

Incidentally, I have just been through the parts list for the 408-410 and I can't find that valve!
