401 Dashboard instruments

Does anyone have any experience with regard to repairing the instrument gauges on a 401.
My combined oil and temperature gauge has a broken water sensor (the spiral tube which goes from the gauge into the engine has broken in 2).
I have removed the gauge from the car but I am not sure how the sensor is attached to the gauge itself.
Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to separate the sensor tube from the gauge?
Is it possible to find new sensor tubes?

Last but not least failing everything else - does anyone know of a good reconditioner?

George

Technican for instruments

Dear members.

My technican for instruments is;

Robert Fenn
Vernham Dean
Andover
Sp 11 OLP
9763 759
England

He allways did a great job for a reasonable price. Everything is painted and clean, and it took only some weeks.

best regards

The spiral wound tube feeding this type of temperature gauge should be full of fluid so if it is broken in two then all the fluid will have escaped. This repair would definitely need specialist repair. There are several "how to do its" posted on the Web but not for the faint hearted!

Temp Gauges

The shop in Tunbridge Wells. Don't remember their name. You cont fix the capillary tube yourself. At lest I've never seen info on doing this. I've seen gauges for sale on eBay.
