Dynamo Output

Well, I refitted the modified reserve unit, an in line filter and all is well in the fuel department.

As the battery was low I used the starter mode on the battery charger and the car started immediately but the dynamo is no longer charging. Has anyone had experience using these devices? Would it have damaged the control unit or worse the dynamo itself?

Will I get to the concourse in a Bristol?

My only consolation is that I have got the Gold Star running again.

Dynamo

Peter,

Could be as simple as dynamo brushes, I noticed some for a 6 cyl Bristol on E bay today.

Thanks. I checked the control box today and was unable to get a voltage reading from either the F or D terminals with the engine running.

If the brushes had gone I would expect to get a reading from the F terminal.

Not charging at the battery ? Needs to be above tickover ... belt tight ? ...

Just in case !

How to test a Lucas dynamo

Dynamo completely frazzled by the emergency start charger.
Looking at an alternator as a replacement.
Are there any links for installing on on a Bristol?

in line fuel filter ?

Am working through fuel issues on my 401 and thinking of fitting a modern junkable in line fuel filter ... but where? Solid copper pipe from fuel tank to fuel tap, compression joints from there to a metal braided rubber hose compression jointed to the fuel pump. Has anyone found a neat solution which does not involve hacksawing into the original braided hose? All I can come up with, if this is a common concern, is perhaps someon is doing fittings for compression joint to filter, or a new 2 piece braided hose designed to take a filter. Any thoughts/advice?
