I have owned my 1953 Bristol 401 (Reg. LHO 401) since 1970. It was regularly serviced by specialists R.F. Fuggle, Ltd, then stored in 1979 with the renowned restorers T.T. Workshops, Westbury, Wilts. while I worked in TV in Los Angeles. They carried out a full chassis-up restoration, leaving it stripped ready for painting, rewiring and re-upholstery. That cost me over £14,000 and would be much more these days. I halted completion, having acquired a Type 405 d.h.c. It has remained stored in a London lock-up with removed parts packed - including a new wiring loom. I have all service and restoration records and bills, as well as the original owner's manual. I invite offers from those who appreciate the realities of completing such high quality restoration - Bristol cars recently offered a restored 401 for £39,000. I might even consider some form of shared ownership with my occasional use, in return for completion. I'm in no hurry, since I'm recovering from surgery and expecting more, so the car can't be viewed yet - and is in a crowded garage. I will contact serious applicants at a later date.
