Smile Registration years

Various states in the United States had different methods of registering cars. I have owned three Arnolt Bristols. Two were registered by the engine number and one by the chassis number.

I bought 3016 in 1964 and although it was one of the first 16 built, it was first sold and registered in California as a 1956. I owned 3067 or 3087 (I think) and it was registered in Illinois as a 1957. I then bough 3015 which also came out of California but had originally been registered as a 1959 even though it apparently came over on the same boat as my first car. The previous owner was able to trace it's history back to the factory in Chicago and got it correctly registered as a 1954.

As I understand the rules, any make that originally raced in the Mille Miglia that was made between 1927 and 1957, including 1957 are eligible. I was once told that the Deluxe model was not eligible, however, that may not be correct.
