What colour is the inside of your wing bays?

After discovering that my 411 S5 brake boosters were leaking, I ignored the advice to wash the area with soapy water, because it appeared there was a fair amount of oil/grease build up on the surface of the inside of the wing bay, so I set about it with hydrocarbon de-greaser and a scrubbing brush, with a view to cleaning it thoroughly and treating any surface rust beneath it.

I soon realised that the black gunk was some sort of underseal like substance, which the de-greaser dissolved. As it came off the curved vertical surface where the brake boosters had been mounted, I discovered white paint underneath. My car is currently dark blue, although I think it was once brown.

Just wondering if this white paint is consistent with any other 411s or perhaps any other cars V8 cars. The metalwork looks original, but it seems a bit odd that one section should be painted white.

I have a 410, and the primer (or whatever the chalky coat is beneath the peeling blue paint) is all white.

My 411 S2 was also originally dark blue. The inside of the wheel bays are black - which matches other 'non colour coded' areas like the engine bay, dash support steelwork etc.

That sounds like aluminium oxide, not primer. Is this in the wing bay?

Thanks. Are the wing bays actually painted black, or are they coated in underseal?

The white substance is on the entire car (410), beneath blue paint. I don'r know about what is in the wing bays.

Black gloss (but faded) inside the wheel arch bays. There is evidence of underseal on the floor of the bay, under the battery, but this does not appear to be factory applied. Definitely no underseal around the brake boosters.
