Photo of 411 roof bracing
 

Hi all, I am after a photo of the inside of the roof of a 411 or earlier V8 that does not have a sunroof. The photo needs to be with the hood lining removed. I am looking at the idea of removing the sunroof and returning the car to its original pre sunroof condition. Any advice or ideas appreciated.>

Two questions are all the cross rails made of timber , some clearly are but are the moulded pink coloured ones timber also?

And how was the hood lining attached to these rails?

There are six steel rails. 12,5 x30 mm. On rail 1; 3, 5 and 6 are wood rails attached. 8 x 30 mm. The lining is attached to wood rail 3, 5 and 6 with small nails (many)
The steel rails are made of two sections, welded.

408 is spot on. Here are a couple of more pictures showing you how the wood and the steel unite. These photos are from a "Series 6" car, which previously had a webestos roof.

Thank you for that it seems from your photo that all the steel tubes have timber under them unlike the 408 photo. Does this mean that the hood lining has a sewn join at each timber strip.

Interesting to note your car has two interior lights as opposed to one on the 408.

I have wondered if all 411s have 2 lights or was it just the cars with a sunroof

It appears from your photo that your whole roof has been replaced as against just filling in the hole. We had planned to do the latter on my car

- Yes all the steel tubes have timber

- Interior lights: I don't know if this was added later. My car is a 410 which was redone in the "series 6" style (even though it is not a 411) meaning a lot of items have been upgraded by the factory. I'm attaching a photo of the roof of another Series 6 car (411) which also has two lights but of a different style.

- I am not sure if the "whole" roof was replaced. Attached is a photo of the original car with a huge roof opening, and another showing a cut out portion of the roof. Sorry the photo is not very clear, but you can see the headlining (Dynaliner) and the cut steel of the old roof. Obviously nothing appears from the outside or inside
