409 side trim or moulding

Hello all,
I have removed the side trim from my 409 because a previous restoration, done before I bought the car, used thick double sticky back tape to secure the trim to the body. It didn't look very good. So now I'm wondering if there is a source for the clips meant to fasten the trim to the body panels. Perhaps clips from another car? Or a thinner, better tape? Any advice welcome.

Cheers,
Tom

Bresco will have them, and send out samples. Could it be 17750P? I have ordered that from them before.

thanks

409 Moulding Clips

Thanks Giles,

I checked Bresco 17750P and, indeed, they do look like the proper clips. Looks like the common garden variety pop rivet is used to fix them to the sheet metal.
I'll order a packet.

For installation it looks like the moulding is first 'hooked' under two clip tangs, then rolled and pressed onto the other two tangs. Is that correct?

Thanks again for your help.

Tom

I think so, but it was five or more years ago! Good luck with it. I think it is normal pop-rivets for the body; I used posher stainless ones for the grille.

Technology has moved on. 3M VDB double-sided tape is now used - no holes, various widths.

Technology may have moved on but in this case not in a good way. The 3M tape is what I removed. It is too thick and results in the trim standing proud of the sheet metal. I simply did not like the appearance so choose to retain the original fastening method.
