Front Bump stops
 

BCL tell me that they are out of the bump stops 407-1-23138, a conical rubber on a 30mm base with what looks like a 3/16BSF stud.
I understand that some other types were also fitted.

Has anyone sourced a suitable alternative?

Could Bristol not say when they would get some more?
I would have thought it would be a commonly required part given that it is used from 407 to 412 and possibly beyond.

I don't think the thread is 3/16", more like 1/4". I have a new one in my garage which I will photograph and measure for you tomorrow in case you want to get some made.

Front Bump stops
 

when I bought my car I received a journal on repairs and observations by
the previous owner.
In it is was a remark that Vauxhall Viva bump stops fit. I have not checked
this out because Brian M. Had them in stock when I needed them.

Front & Rear Bump stops
 

Regarding the rear bump stops or the front ones, once we have the
size and spec it would not be a major effort to obtain same/similar
from a good motor factors. Even if it meant using different size
bolt holes, these could be drilled as required. Kevin has a photo to
be shared. Having removed the rear ones a few times working on the
torsion bars, I can report that they look like a common bog standard
part, not something unique to Bristol, although it might be. One
thing that may well be unique and which is worth getting, as they may
break or rust, are the axle retaining straps that stop the axle
dropping too far, as opposed to bump stops preventing the axle
compressing too far (one would hope the shocks do that anyway!). Has
anyone obtained these new from BCL? I couldn't imagine any change in
these bits (the axle retaining straps) from 406 through to Blenheim,
given the same axle housing and chassis.

As the axle retaining straps always seem to rust through, I made mine from
1" by 1/8", 316 stainless steel. A simple enough job as they are not
rocket science.

The ones I removed during torsion bar work looked like rocket
parts!!!!! o((---))o

Of course you're correct, something similar that won't rust and is
flexible enough to do the job is all that is needed. Unless the axle
drops they never get touched.

The outside diameter of the thread is 0.246" and I think it has 26 threads per inch (close up eyesight not good!), which probably means it is BSF.

The exposed part of the thread is 16mm long with the overall lenght of the bump stop including the stud is 51mm long. The metal base to which the rubber is bonded is about 4mm thick and 35.5mm diameter.

I can now confirm that the bump stop stud thread is 1/4" BSF
