Default Dismantling the wooden parts in 408

I want to renovate all the wooden parts in my 408 except for the dashboard which is okay. Could anybody give an advice how to remove the wooden strip on top of the dashboard (near front window)- do I have to take out the dash or is there a smarter way to get the strip out?
Thanks Hans

..by the way ... the 409 which appears lately in the album belongs to a German motor journalist, Rolf Klein, a nice guy who helped my with my paperwork for the German registration of my 408.
