Fuel Sender Unit

My fuel guage has not been working since the restoration and diagnosis is faulty sender. Anyone know which one is used on the 411 S3?

And after my drive at the weekend I seem to be getting around 11mpg which is truely awful even by my standards of V8 ownership. Any tips other than a really good tune up?

What carb is on it ? I find Holleys have a drink problem

Richard Leslie Phillips 01-09-11 08:26 AM

I believe the engine is standard and therefore I assume with a Holley. I managed to source some parts from the American Car Care Centre and will be fitting new sender and pick up to tank today as well as a new blower for the rather pathetic heater!

Most have Carters or Edelbrock equivalent. Ask Martin at ACCS

Is it running electronic ignition ?

Richard Leslie Phillips 01-09-11 09:40 PM

Fuel guage now working...

Standard carbs, old-fashioned dizzie with points. Tried to do some basic tuning today...with not a lot of success.

Cannot even begin to understand how the uprated heater blower is supposed to fit on. Does not seem to have an earth? Will talk to ACCC tomorrow about it.

Abot 10 MPG is what I had before the engine resto. Now maybe 15. I changed the Carters to Edelbrocks.
Does it run on all 8 cylinders?

Richard Leslie Phillips 12-09-11 01:25 PM

Just did a run to Amsterdam and back. Car did not miss a beat whole journey. Only problem was an average mpg of 13. Seemed to make no difference driving at 50mph or 80mph. Meant a LOT of stops as my range was only 180 miles approx. And the price of unleaded on the continent...1.75 euros a litre in Holland. LPG the only way forward if I want to use this car regularly I think.

Forgot to say...Carters and yes all 8 cylinders running smoothly. 2000rpm = 60mph. Is that the same with you chaps?
