Default 408 chassis No 7001

After about 25yrs of joyous ownership it's time to pass this car on to it's next guardian. Not an easy thing to do on any level, emotionally I knew it would be hard, I had admired Bristol since I saw them at Earls Court as a boy and subsequently learned about them as car crazed kids do, I remember being a little choked when I picked the car up from Chelsea Cars in Hammersmith.
When I started thinking about how I was going to sell it I was shocked to discover that I had no idea how to go about it. I have no idea of it's value and don't know how to find out, we are in very isolated Perth, Western Australia.
The car is chassis No 1, does that mean anything to anyone and does it make a difference.
To sell a car "back when" all you did was place an add in the specialist press but apparently that's no good any more and you have to use the internet but you hear such terrible stories about scammers and how do you seperate a discerning man from his hard earned when he's in Boston [Lincs or Mass] and the car's in Oz?
I'm at a loss, if any body can share their experiences, good or bad, I'd be very pleased to hear from them.
