Triang Bristol 406

Someone has listed a Triang Bristol 406 model on ebay with a starting bid on US$240. No mention of a box.

It says "Spot On" on the bottom - is this just a Triang brand?

This seems like a very high price. Does anyone know what the market value of this model would be?

I've got one in red pretty much like the one on offer but mint, but
the Spot-On etc part has been erased at the manufacturing level. It
also came in an unmarked box so not Triang. Can't remember what I
paid for it.

Hi
It sounds high to me, I certainly wouldn't pay that unless it was a minter in a mint box.

Yes Spot On was the Triang brand name for their equivalent of the Dinky brand which was also Meccano brand at some time.

That might be a Replicars model, I suspect they could be using the ex-Triang moulds, or they have got a very good copy from an original.
If there is a hole about halfway along the propshaft then it is like mine which has screw fixing it to a display base in the Replicar box.
I also have a very poor copy, from the Spot-on, which I hope at some time to convert into one of the later models.

The registration number looks right, I sold one a few months ago and it only made around 50.00uk so 120.00uk plus makes that one look a tad on the dear side. I see though that it did not attract any bids. I would certainly expect it to be mint and boxed though art that price.

I had a spot on model just like that and thought it would be a good idea
to try and
have it made into a 407.
I sent it to a club member who said he would do it by making a new mould
from mine
and then selling the 407 as a model. Several months pasted and a couple of
emails
came with pictures of progress and then the member moved to France.
I found him again from the owners list and contacted him but have not ever
had a reply.
So I have lost one perfectly good "Spot On " model 1:42 scale.
They have suspension, steering wheel seats, details of leafsprings and drive
line, the proper
roof parking lights and grill.
They were made my Triang in Britain and had the number plate BTW 115.

Nick.
