I took some photos of the car formers when they were part of the AB archives in Aug 2021. I will try and attach them one at a time

401 Buck now in Aerospace Bristol

Bristol 401/3 buck
We at the Bristol Owners Heritage Trust have now negotiated with Aerospace Bristol for this to be the permanent home of this lovely buck. It nestles beside the mighty Bristol Freighter and almost beneath the wing of the Canadian Coastal Command Bolingbroke being assembled by a group of very senior aerongineers from the original plans. Do pop in and have a look!

Thanks for the info Stefan, I am a long time volunteer at AB, but because I am unable to stand for very long have not been in for a year. The new location is good because it is near the English wheel which is used to shape curves in skin panels. there is a video on the AB website showing it being used. The freighter you mentioned on display I think I flew on from Borneo to Singapore in 1965. I worked at Filton for 28 years finishing as an aircraft design manager.

Many thanks for the photos Harry, it's amazing to see these after all these years. There's no mistaking the 411 dolly/buck!

The rear half car dolly ("good bye dolly") is interesting, I wonder if that was used for more than one v8 type before the 411?
