A Private Car - An Account of the Bristol

Thought it might be useful if some people could get a better idea of what books are available which relate to Bristols. This one is A Private Car published by Palawan Press.

The Standard Edition was limited to 900 numbered copies, bound in buckram as a 2-volume set and presented in a cloth slipcase.

I have attached a few images below. Please add comments or reviews.

Bristol Books - A Private Car

I bought mine when it was published. Even drove to West London to pick up
from Palawan direct. 2 very smart late model Bristols parked outside -
owner's cars.

I was the lucky recipient of the book at Christmas... and it really is a fabulous publication with tremendous text and some wonderful photographs.

Highly recommended and although expensive... very exclusive and as such will without question retain its value.

You're on a slippery slope now, that's how my addiction to Bristol started, with that book, as a Christmas present.

Like you I was also an Aston owner. I've had four in all and had three when I bought my Bristol 411S5. I now have no Astons but still have the Bristol. I must admit I shed the occasional tear when I think what my DB4 S5 Vantage would be worth now ...

Not as expensive as the Palawan Aston books!

Hi Kevin,

All Aston's appear to be fetching Top$ right now... but your DB4 Vantage would be up there with the best...

Even the nicer so-called 'lowly' DBS cars are pulling in £50K upwards at the moment... I don't suppose that any cars will reach the heady days of 89'/90' given the draconian tax regulations over in in the UK... but I guess it's a good time to 'chip in' your motoring investments if you are that way inclined!

The 'slippery slope' has been awaiting me for a number of years now... my wife however has a general aversion to Bristol cars, and I don't get the requisite support/enthusiasm that I want from her :(

I might attend the Quenby Hall concours to take a look at the cars with her in tow!

Last time I visited at B.O.C concours was at Blenheim I recall (?) a few years back... great day.

A Private Car - An Account of the Bristol

It is indeed a work of art, a bit big for a bedtime read but a staggering
piece of publishing.
A friend of mine with a Gullwing has just bought the equivalent from
Palawin.

I love it, you can always find something to read again.

No wonder the owner of Palawin Simon Draper has the largest collection of
Bristol's I know of, including allegedly a 450 ex Le Mans car, I do not know
which of the three bodies it has though.

Simon's 450 has the open body, from the 1955 Le Mans. It was a Goodwood Revival last year I think, and there are photos of it on the BOC site.

I have moved Serena's post about selling one of these books, along with the subsequent replies, to this new thread http://www.bristolcars.info/forums/s...book-sale.html
