Hi everyone,

I recently came across some old forum posts mentioning my dad, Clyde Lennon, and his Bristol 406 restoration project. It was great to see his name come up again after all these years.

https://www.bristolcars.info/forums/...de-lennon.html

I'm getting married in Sydney this November, and ever since I was young I've wanted to arrive in a Bristol 406. Dad was restoring one before he passed away when I was 13, so it would be a really special way to acknowledge him on the day.

I know it's a very long shot—particularly in Australia—but I thought I'd reach out to the Bristol community to see if anyone knows of a Bristol 406 here, or has any contacts or suggestions that might help.

I'm more than happy to pay if someone would be willing to help.

Even if a car isn't possible, I'd also love to hear from anyone who knew Dad or remembers his restoration project. It would be great to connect with people who shared his interest in these cars.

Thanks very much for reading, and I appreciate any advice or leads.

Thanks for having me on here. I'm a retired engineer (automotive engines amongst other things) born in Bristol in the mid 60s and allowing myself the fantasy that I might finally be in a position to be the custodian of a mid 60s Bristol of my own. I have long admired the cars and busses bearing that name and have fond memories of seeing the bare bus chassis being road tested along the Bath Road in Brislington as a youth (I know they are not the same company, although related).

Amongst the many vehicles I have squandered time and money on over the years, I fondly remember an old Chrysler Charger I owned for a period in the late 80s which had a 318ci small block V8 and Torqueflite transmission. From what I have learned so far that is very likely to be the powertrain fitted to a Bristol of the era I am interested in. Almost like it was meant to be.

I shall be reading your forum for a while to learn what I can about Bristol ownership and maintenance as I would expect to be doing most jobs myself. A concern is obviously the availability of parts, in particular brake and suspension parts, as I imagine most other components can be replaced with fabricated or equivalent parts from other models.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

For sale is a beautiful 1958 AC Ace Bristol, one of only 466 original cars produced in exceptional condition overall. This amazing ride is a piece of history that can be enjoyed for many years to come and is sure to impress any avid collector. This is an original aluminum-bodied car with a Ford 302ci engine with Sanderson headers, Lakewood scatter shield and an Edelbrock with Holley 780 cam dual-feed dual pump carburetor with a 4-speed manual transmission.

Recent work includes a brand new paint job, new interior, new brakes, and fresh tune-up. The car includes a top, is garage kept, and is in incredible condition overall. More photos and videos can be provided for interested parties and am currently taking offers from anyone who is interested. Thank you

Hello all,

I’m hoping someone in the group may be able to help with a Bristol 401 question.

Does anyone have reference material, factory documentation, drawings, measurements or photographs that would allow the original luggage compartment dimensions and volume of a Bristol 401 to be established?

In particular, I’m interested in:

* Boot floor length.
* Boot floor width (including maximum width and width between any intrusions).
* Height to the underside of the boot lid.
* Boot opening dimensions.
* Approximate usable luggage volume.
* Any factory luggage or touring literature that references capacity.

Even rough measurements from an owner with access to a car would be extremely helpful.

Many thanks in advance.

Just to let members know, I am selling a set of 403 seats on Ebay. These original seats were from Bristol a 403 built in 1954, so they have aged over the last 71 years. The rear bench is in better condition as this seating area saw significantly less use than the front seats. The seats are covered in fawn-coloured original Connolly leather. The front driver and passenger seats are in need of repair. They are currently sitting in storage and I would welcome finding a new home for them. The listing and more photos can be found at:
