Demise of the English language

Clearly I upset a few people with my comment on the correct use of
prepositions in the English language.
My apologies also for miss-spelling the word "grammar". Ouch!
For those who still might be interested, the prepositions "to", "with" and
"from" are governed by the original latin prefix of the modern english verb.
So, it's "commensurate with", etc.. "Compared to" and "different to" make
the hairs on my back stand on end!
I didn't mean to insult anyone - especially from outside the UK - I just
think it a pity that the roots of the English language, after about 15
centuries of Roman influence, are now being destroyed.

While some of us may use imperfect English grammar and make a few careless spelling mistakes, people have been doing that forever, but it is not that which threatens the English language.

The root of the problem is our education systems. I know young people who have been 'educated' at leading private schools and universities yet their spelling is atrocious. This isn't laziness, they just don't know any better. As for grammar, they don't even know what it is.

Unfortunately there are now generations of people like this.
