Veneer restoration

After reading various advise on the Bristol forums on how to restore the veneer on a dash and which lacquers to use , finally after the fifth attempt I have managed to achieve a finish as good if not better than new!

This was due to me nearly sending myself mad messing around with toxic chemicals, razor blades and broken glass, making a complete dogs dinner of the job until the fifth attempt when I gave the remains to a local antique restorer. When she stopped laughing at what I had done , she said leave it with me for a week and then brought it back re-veneered and beautiful with a bill for £50. It would have been a lot less if I hadn't blasted through the old veneer!

Don't know what the moral is but I am sticking to stuff I know about in future. It's cheaper.
