Cylinder head identification
I have recently moved into house that was owned by a Bristol enthusiast. In a box in the garage is a cylinder head which I am hoping someone will be able to identify which model it is for and guide me to its value.
http://www.bristolcars.info/forums/g...-img-2560.html I'm note sure how to add pictures but I have put 3 on the 401 pictures section if that helps |

The photos only show so much, pictures of the gasket face and side view of the raised upstand with a four figure no stamped on it will give more clues.
On one side near gasket face, can you make out 'day' 'month' 'year' in numerals? Regards Michael Oram |

2 litre cylinder head
It certainly is a 2 Litre cylinder head, probably an 85C, and has been stripped ie had the valve guides removed. If you put some photographs up of the combustion chamber surfaces we could probably identify the model better and see much better what the condition is and how much meat is left on it..
These do become porous with time, the alloy can crack between cylinders, and also repeated planing of the cylinder head will raise the compression ratio to an unsuitable level. It is possible to spend, I am told £2000 restoring a bad one of these. Having said that it is certainly very saleable, I suggest contact a couple of the Specialist Bristol workshops or indeed BCL themselves. Inracing do now make new ones, costing £££. |

Thanks for the help, I have found the date stamp which says 2 7 51 and there are some numbers on the other side which look like C (or G) PS224 INLET V Seats + 020
I have put 3 more picture on the 401 album.
