Default Brake drum details '400' requested

My'400' is a 1949 model year, second series. On all four brake drums there are two small drilled holes to accept the drum fixing screw to the hub. This screw is a 1/4" BSF CSK Machine Screw 1/2" long.

I need to know the 'straight line' distance between this hole and the nearest wheel nut stud - hole centre to stud centre. All four of mine are circa 24mms. Are there variations on this distance depending on year of manufacture?

I have very good reasons for asking such a strange question and the aftermath may form the basis of a longish follow up post.

If any member has a '400' or perhaps '401' on blocks with the wheels removed and can just quickly run a straight edge edge across to give me the detail in mms I would be most grateful.

Thankyou.

Marcus ,
I measured a drum with a caliper and got approx. 22.5mm between centre of wheel stud hole to centre of countersunk fixing hole .
Note this is not a accurate measurement .

In my experience 400 - 405 are all the same hole/stud pattern .
I've fitted 403 & 405 drums to 400 & 401 hubs
And 400 drums to 403 hubs
Front and rear are all the same.
What do you need this measurement for ????

Regards
Geoff

Default RE: Bristol 400 brake drum detail request

Dear Greg and Geoff

Thank you very much Gentlemen, for your informative replies giving me exactly the detail that I needed.

The subject has arisen due a 'dispute' over the positioning of this drum fixing hole on new 'Alfin Drums', ordered from the sole provider here in the UK.

I am not prepared to disclose further on the 'Forum' due the self restraints required of users vis a vis the 'Moderators' with which I completely understand and sympathise.

However if anyone is contemplating new 'Alfins', they might like to contact me 'off - forum' on [email]marcus_126@yahoo.co.uk BEFORE they order new drums where they will learn much, from my experience.
