How to seal the wiper stalks?
These seem to be the last places letting water into the cabin (now onto the new carpet.
Any advice on how to seal them greatly received. They appear to have rubber grommets that are pressed down by the top of the stalk, but they are now perished. Is there a better system? |

Peterg and other Forum members ,
It always helps others who want to reply to know what model Bristol you have or you are talking about. It is easy to fix the problem just buy new wiper shaft rubbers , from memory the 400 - 403 use the same rubber but 404 - 406 have a different sealing system . Geoff |

Are you sure its coming in via the wipers?
I had a problem with leaks that was doing my head in but it turned out that there are two drain tubes in the middle of either side of the windscreen on my 401. These had perished over the years and this was where the source of my two leaks where. New drain tubes fitted soon cured the problem. Check it out! |

Hello Peter,
When I restored my Arnolt 3086 I found a supplier in the UK which stocked all types of correct rubber grommets for the early type of the windscreen wiper shafts. The grove in the grommet that seals against the body do have different angles depending on the windscreen angle. And there were different depths and lengthes.... I have the address somewhere so if you need it, please let me know. Regards Kenneth |
