Default 406 barn find

some while ago I bought a 406 from a barn in mid Wales with no engine or gearbox as happened to many of the model

there were a few other parts missing which have mainly been sourced

I wanted to keep with the 6 cylinder theme so I have installed a Rover 2600 over head cam engine with SU carbs and BW 66 automatic gearbox

for a collection of reasons progress has been very slow, but now just got the engine running, but not right yet

most of the trim is done

just looking to fit seat belts

don't seem to be able to add more than one picture

Looks like a neat installation, when I worked for British Steel Pension Fund years ago I covered many miles in a Rover SD1 2.6 with the auto box, it was a nice car to drive and I thought it was a good engine, should be a very relaxing car to drive.
Pity I missed the 406 though mid wales is almost home territory. Was it an easy installation.
Geoff.

Hi

had to make new front engine mounts and new gearbox cross member

the front oil filter has been modified to a remote filter to give more clearance space near the steering rack

I made a new gearbox tunnel and new set of gauges to work with the Rover engine
