Restorations in NZ

Hi all -

Related to "replacement engines", I just returned from 3+ weeks in New Zealand where I visited five restoration shops - not really planned this way.

The work in all was very impressive and I was quoted $50-55/hour NZ as the shop rate. Hope to have a report and photos on a webpage soon.

I know this doesn't offer a complete equation to figure total resto costs for any car, but I'd trust all these places to work skillfully and efficiently - I doubt if there's a better deal anywhere in the world right now with favorable exchange rates.

Finally, Quatas airfare from Los Angeles to NZ or Australia is now $598 US! Quite a deal. Then when you get there, much good wine and beer to sample...
