405 with flasher repeaters
405 chassis number 4049 has flasher repeaters between the doors. It seems these were fitted by Bristol when it had its brakes upgraded in 1958. Is this unusual ? I don't recall seeing them in photos of other 405 cars.

I don't recall seeing these on a 405 before and a nice modification, especially if done by the factory. Presumably the brake upgrade was fitment of Dunlop disc brakes? This was a popular upgrade and well worthwhile, though latterly people tend to further upgrade to Lockheed or Girling calipers.

Yes, factory fitted in June 1958. The notes just say "Disc brake conversion" and "fitting flasher repeater" amongst other general service tasks.
The previous owner, who bought it in 1995, said it used to have Dunlops on it and showed me a bin full of old Dunlop calipers ! It has Coopercraft calipers on it now, and I fitted a new master cylinder and flexible hoses ( the old ones were completely blocked ). |

Basically Bristol's would do pretty much do what ever their customers asked. |

Peter, that's good to know. 403- 1402 has the Dunlop brakes, fitted at the factory in 1958. I've restored three of the calipers, had to buy one new one, and I've rebuilt all the tubing in kunifer, complete with a replacement servo. Not had it out on the road yet (still lots to do before that) but from what you say it should be fine.
