Default 406 speedometer trip reset

I bought my 406 with all instruments removed. The speedo supplied was very tired and the trip reset cable didn't fit so I bought a replacement unit.
The new one has identical connection for trip reset. Am I missing an adapter to connect it?

I may not be understanding your problem but I think something like this is what you need. But check the length - the 410 parts list indicates it needs to be 13" long

That certainly looks as though it might fit the speedometer head. I hadn't considered replacing the whole reset cable.
What puzzles me is that the trip reset cable looks original but doesn't fit either the speedometer that came with the car or the replacement supplied by CBCP.

Hi David,

Not sure if it will be much help, but attached is a photo of the back of the dash when I had it removed on my 406.

Thanks,

Andrew

A huge help, thank you. It looks as though 2 different sizes were fitted and I have two of the larger type. I think my best option is to replace the cable with the one Roger kindly pointed out.
