408 auctioned in Melbourne, Australia
There was what appeared to be a basket case of a 408 auctioned at Melbourne this weekend at the annual Motorclassica event - see attached photos.
Given the sorry state of this car, which didn't even appear to be complete, I thought the price it fetched was very good, for the seller - AUD$12,375 It's only saving grace was the leather upholstery appeared to be in very good condition. |

Kevin ,
The 408 is Chassis 7043 , that was sold to a specialist body repairer and painter in Sth Australia . No doubt in due time it will be nicely restored and back on the road. At the price of approx. GBP5800 it must be one of the cheapest Bristols of any type offered recently . Here in Australia people pay those prices for basket case Holden or Fords that were just rubbish when new. This is a handbuilt classic , one of only about 80 made and well worth restoring . Regards Geoff |
