Default Engine Number

My cars had an engine change at some point. The engine number that's on the V5 is C318-03-15AJ.
Found this on the internet "The US-built 1967 LA 318 has engine number prefix C318, while the Canadian 1967 poly A 318 has engine prefix CC318. (The first “C” stands for the 1967 model year; the second “C” in the poly engine stands for Canada.)"
So it looks like I've got the later engine. Any idea what the rest of the numbers/letters mean?
Thanks
Andrew

Default Engine Number 318-03-15AJ

Andrew,

according to the BOC Chassis list, engine number 318-03-15QAJ was fitted to a 410 registered AWR 740G.

The engine number you give is not listed in BOC records with a C or CC but appears in sequence and appears to have been fitted to chassis number 7461 from new in a MAROON 410.

I hope this helps, it is according to the records a perfectly std engine fitted in 1969.

For some reason there is a note that the car has been rebuilt as a std saloon, (very odd)
