Default 411/412 engine removal

Does anyone know whether you can remove the engine from a 411/412 without pulling half the interior out to release the gearbox, I believe not but am interested in peoples ideas. I need to replace the rear main seal on my 412 series1 which means the removal of the sump which I believe cannot be done because of the cross member thus the need to remove the motor.

I took out the radiator together with its upper brace/support, separated the engine from the transmission and then lifted out the engine. If I remember correctly I removed the brake master cylinder to get more clearance, but this is not absolutely necessary.

Regards

Thomas
