Default 409 Tyres for Australia

My 409 without power steering is currently fitted with 4 Falkenberg 175/80 x 16 radials. The spare is a 600 x 16 Avon Turbo speed, the original fitement choice I believe.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a tyre that might be available in Australia, give optimum handling and not affect the gearing too much please?
Thanks

Hello,

I fully agree with Greg. I am using these on my 409 and they are really excellent, with a good price as well. I don't know if Vredesteins are available in Australia; if they aren't, the Avon Turbospeeds are more 'original', quiet and would put less effort on the steering, but their performance is clearly inferior.

Hi,

I have put on a set of Michelin X 6x600 which were in period. I have no power steering on my 407. It has improved the ride, tyre noise and low speed manoeuvring.

They are radials and sold in UK by specialists like Longstone Tyres.
I would be surprised if they were not exported. But then life is full of surprises!

Many thanks,
Will see if the tyre specialist in Melbourne can help with these, but I know he's off on an Alvis rally shortly
