Hopefully a 603 owner can contribute some information. However, if the brakes are the same as the 411 and 412, which is quite likely, then they are Girling brake calipers. Some components are common to all Girling calipers at that time, such as pistons, but other parts are specific to certain cars. I will scan and post a Girling parts list later on, which lists the variations of the design and which other cars used them. If the car has been standing around unused for a long time it is likely the skirts of the pistons have rusted. If you rebuild the calipers I suggest you use stainless steel pistons. I have previously bought them from a guy in the UK who advertised them to the AMOC (Aston used the same caliper pistons from DB5 onwards). |

603 Brakes
Thanks everone for the feedback and look forward to the Girling list.
I just thought that if the calipers were from a Jaguar then there was a greater opportunity of getting an aftermarket upgraded caliper if i need to rebuild or replace mine. |

Sorry, haven't had time to scan the Girling parts lists. Will get to it asap.
In the mean time, from the list I can tell you this; The rear caliper and handbrake assembly listed as used by Bristol are common with AC Cars, Aston Martin (that will be DB5 & DB6), Iso, Jensen & TVR. Some of the front calipers listed as used by Bristol are common with Jensen only - LH Caliper 64032280, RH 64032281. However, there is another front caliper used only by Bristol; LH 64032175, RH 64032176 The parts list includes 9 different pairs of front caliper part numbers, used by a variety of car manufacturers. The internals of all the calipers are mostly the same, apart from some differences in brake pads, so I assume the main differences lie in the caliper bodies, which probably means the mounting points (bolt holes) will be different. |

Just checked the Bristol parts list Resources - Bristol Cars - Owners and Enthusiasts Forum
and the 409 & 410 used the 64032175/6 front calipers, so it 's reasonable to assume that it was the 411/412 that used the 64032280/1 front calipers which were common to the Jensen (presumably Interceptor). I have no idea what the 603 used. Anyone got a parts list for the 603? |

NB: I don't know for sure these are what's on the 603 (see my previous comments re most likely caliper part numbers). |
