Default Column Bushes

I'm seeking a pair of steering column bushes for a 408. It seems these are no longer available from official sources. I did think that Jag XJ6 bushes might fit but the internal diameter is too large. Hopefully someone may know of another car which used the same size as Bristol! thanks richard

Have you tried American Car Care Centre, tel 0207 278 9786 ask for Matin Barnes. (ACCS)?
I am sure you will have, of course, tried Brian Marelli at Bristol Car Services.

Do you mean the steering column bearings, part number 407-1-25067?

Past Parts (01284 750729, pastparts.com: The Leading Past Part Site on the Net ) say that they do Steering and Suspension Parts but I suspect one would need to know what the column fitted, Brian Marelli should be able to help with that.

I will be interested in what you find and then we will all know.

Richard,

Try Brian Marelli first. If he can't help, the bushes are simple plastic bushes, They would be simple to have made

Default More research

Thanks for the replies, Messrs. Marelli and May are not able to supply - I shall follow up the other known Bristol specialists. The original parts have disintegrated (appear to be fibre) so I shall need to do some measuring to get a new set made, in polyurethane for preference.

I would normally suggest trying Bristol Cars first but I know they are out of stock.

Hope it works out okay
