408 Carbs
After 2 years in Poland my 408 is back on the road. The body of the car is in a better than new condition now. The guys in Poland did an excellent job for small money. Will post some pics.
But after two years my carburettor is not willing to work correctly. I think it might be a clever idea to buy a new one than to overhaul the old one. It seems new Edelbrock carbs are quite cheap - 300 - 500 € No my question - should I take the same type of carb again or are there carbs which might fit better? Any experience? Thanks Hans |

Hello Hans,
I had your same problems and I bought a NOS Carter 3131S on eBay for about Euro 150 2 yrs ago after many unsuccessful attempts to adapt several Edelbrocks. They were good carbs but the need to adjust linkages, air filters etc made it all a bit too tricky for me. I'd try to overhaul your original Carter using the kits that are available from several US specialists. Cheers Stefano |

Hans,
There have been a few discussions on here about carburettors in the past, here's one that might help http://www.bristolcars.info/forums/8...l-407-8-a.html Or click here to do a search Regards, Kevin |
