parts for chevrolet engine
hello, i have just purhased a 407 and am looking to acquire some spares for the engine - fan belt, oil filter spark plugs etc - does anyone know part numbers so they can be bought here in the US? Is the chevy engine the same as fitted to other US cars of that time (1963) - which would have been most common? Any help very much appreciated

Chevy Engine?
Unless something was changed long ago, the 407 should have a Chrysler 313 engine built in Canada. This is not the same as the more common 318 engine, but it well known among MOPAR experts.

Chevrolet engines in Bristol Cars
First off, you must determine what make of engine is in your car, and any good mechanic can tell you what you have. As mentioned, the Chrysler Canada 313 cubic inch engine was standard, and we call that the small-block. It was used extensively in the U.S. as a 318 cubic inch engine in much of the Chrysler lines. A newer version of the engine, known as the LA series came out around 1967 in the states, and can be exchanged for earlier Chrysler versions. It is lighter, but not necessarily more powerful. These are very common engines, and you should have no trouble finding one for parts or a complete engine.
