Touring Superleggera - Giant Among Classic Italian Coachbuilders
Written by Carlo Felice Bianchi Anderloni and Angelo Tito Anselmi, this is probably the ultimate study of Touring designs.
Of course the relevance to Bristol is the Touring Bristol 401. There are three large b&w photos of the Touring 401. Only a handful of these were built by Touring before Bristol settled on their own version of the design, which is clearly influenced by some of Touring's nicer but extremely similar designs for Italian cars, like the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500GT.
There is also a drawing of a 4 door version of the 401. It would be interesting to compare this to the side profile of a Bristol 405.
There are also photos of the stunning Frazer Nash version of the BMW 328, built in 1948 for the Shah of Iran. The authors obviously thought the Bristol engine in this car was built by Bristol "on licence" from BMW!
