Bristol Owners Heritage Trust event
The Bristol Owners Heritage Trust annual lecture day for this year will be on Saturday 6th April. The venue for this popular event for 2019 will be in Bristol at the Create Centre, Smeaton Road, Bristol. BS1 6XN.
Provisional Programme. The day will be in two parts: Before lunch from 11am small groups will be able to see a selection of the Bristol Owners Heritage Trust archives in the City Archives right next door. Talks will run from 1:30 pm till 4:30 pm. Well known Bristol owner and author Michael Barton will be opening the meeting with a presentation on his recent biography of Tony Crook, ' Mr. Bristol '. Michael will then introduce our second speaker of the day Dr. John Hobbs, who will talk about his soon to be published book, ' Dudley Hobbs: Design and the Bristol Car ', on the evolution of design methods from shipbuilding to aircraft and on to cars, as practised by his father Dudley Hobbs, and himself at Airbus. ' Mr.Bristol ' and the new Hobbs book are part of a series of productions by Butterfield Press. The meeting will then continue with a professional video film tracing the evolution of the pre-war BMW car designs into the post-war Bristol 400 and successors. Refreshments will be available nearby or in-house. Tickets will be paid for on entry, £15 per head. Cash only please. It would be helpful to the BOHT, in order to manage the event, to know the numbers of attendees in advance, so please check your diaries and book your tickets as soon as possible by email to Michael Crawford at : mjcm4p@aol.co.uk |
