Bristol cylinder head on EBay .
Hi I have an old 6 cylinder Bristol cylinder head on Ebay uk. Item no.150417557020.
This head is only missing one valve spring and retainer+two collets,All the rockers +push rods are still on the head ,also the rocker covers. Condition is best described as nearly scrap, but it could be repaired (the edge of one chamber is deeply pitted and needs Tig welding then machining. I have tried to describe the head honestly, and will e mail photos+ numbers to anyone interested. Regards Tom EDIT: direct link to item on eBay Last edited by Kevin H; 25-02-10 at 11:42 PM. Head Going Well
Well, this is already flying and up to £700. I was going to buy this as I thought I could have it made into a coffee table a la 'Top Gear' Polished & topped with a glass sheet this would look magnificent. Will would just love it in his library.
Does anyone think it may still be serviceable or would it need stitching & welding and new valve seats adding - surely the additional cost on top of purchase price would make this prohibitive. I shall have to contact Mike Robinson & see if he has a a scrap head or even better two for a table. Incidentally does anyone know what the Top Gear table is mad out of - Will thinks its a Mopar 383 what do you think? Not for me a bargain now, sigh. Cass |

Just a quick update on the Cylinder head i have on EBay ,it is actually in much better condition than i first thought, in fact when the bids started to rise, I put the head up on a bench here with good lighting and had a really good look at every part of it, It will give many more years of service with some Tig welding in just one chamber at the edge where it meets the face of the head. The head has never been skimmed before so that is one less concern,The valve seats also look good with absolutely no cracks anywhere.
I have been welding mig tig arc oxy accetelene ( since the 60 s) and have seen dramatic strides in equiptment and materials, It is now possible to get very good long lasting results on nearly any type of alloy heads and blocks at reasonable cost. The"smoke and mirrors element "has disappeared from alloy welding.Ok my AC DC tig welder cost me 3000 Euros,Im sure that is very cheap compared to what the professionals use .As regards the price of the head,I just imported from the USA a pair of Brodix V8 Chevy heads with duty and shipping 1300 euros.Either of the 3 heads would have less than 5 euros of raw materials in them.
