"A Private Car"

Jon, my copy is numbered (by hand, in black ink) in the late 500's .. "Of a Limited Edition of 1000 copies". So I think you are correct that the Standard and Special Limited editions were combined, into a total edition of 1000 copies. Of which your copy would be one of the 100 Special Editions. (Presumably the first release - the glossy cover, one of which Kevin has, were the earliest numbers of the 1000) |

Sorry, perhaps I should have been clearer. It is open to any prospective buyer to ask to make payment by PayPal if they prefer (or of course for Kevin to stipulate PayPal / eBay for payment if he believes that is the only method acceptable for site members). If any prospective buyer prefers to pay by PayPal, they can of course ask to do so. I stated, 'Cheque or bank transfer preferred', only because PayPal take quite a high fee percentage of all transactions. I do not, as an individual, have any means of receiving payment by credit card, so payment by credit card would have to be made through PayPal. I hope that is clearer. I can't find the details at the moment but I had a breakdown of the numbers and for whatever reason the Special Edition took the 400 numbers in the overall sequence. Mine is in the 400 numbers, it seems strange to me but this is the way they did it! Bob W |

Serena - I'm pleased that you found the photo resize and upload instructions useful
My standard edition of the book is number 70. I think it was purchased in 1998. It was the most expensive ever for me, because it led to me buying a Bristol! Quote:
That said, if it were listed on eBay and a link to the item posted here and the other Bristol forums, it is very likely that it would still be purchased by a Bristol enthusiast. It is unlikely that a dealer would pay as much for the book as a genuine enthusiast. eBay does of course offer the advantage of a public auction system, although it's traceability is not fool proof (as I know from personal experience) and it doesn't offer anything special in terms of payment options. There is of course a cost to the seller via eBay, but maybe a higher price could be achieved which could compensate. However the price should in theory be limited by the fact that the book can still be bought new from Palawan. I can't think of any easy way to auction the book via this site, other than Serena inviting blind bids (sent directly to Serena). |

Kevin, I would prefer to keep the auction to this site, if possible - if that is alright with you. The members of this site were very helpful when I posted my enquiry about the book, and therefore I would prefer to sell it to a member of this site if possible.
Will it be alright for me to send copies of all bids to you, Kevin, so that you can verify interim / winning bids if asked to do so? Thanks again for all your help. Very best regards. |

Regards, Kevin PS. I have the stopped the annoying messages from Noosanet! This illustrates the perils of allowing people to post in the forums by email. |

I think the simplest way, is if anyone else wishes to bid, please contact me with a 'best price' bid. Whichever is the highest bid received by next Sunday evening (19th September), will be the winner of the auction.
I hope this is acceptable to everyone. Best wishes. |
