Default Used and new old stock parts for old cars

As a hobbyist, I am always distrubed when I see extremely high prices on old pieces, but is a common practice these days as people become commercial entrepreneurs and walk away from the hobby. Like all old parts, there is a limit as to what a person will pay for what they need. Even cars themselves are sometimes priced up in the stratosphere. I would much rather give a small part away than overprice it, and have done so on many occasions. I do hope I have a lot of company out there that feels the same way.

Well,I note that Mr. Ronald G. Stephenson describes himself as a "hobbyist".I would like consider myself an enthusiast & a realist.Which means that over the years,I have considered it a duty to bring to safety nearly all the parts I have encountered that could be considered at risk. This has sometimes cost me a good deal more than I have got back, but I have had the satisfaction of believing I have helped the old vehicle movement along.Mr. Stephenson has not so far told us what he thinks I should have paid (about 10 years ago) for this very good item,& also, what I should be asking for it now (answer in decimal currency, please!).His response awaited.

Ricardo , I agree with you ! We can all be generous when giving away other peoples stuff ! None of us needs to be told what we should do with our cars, parts or knowledge. I am always wary of people that brag about their "charitable" deeds , as I think this is something that only others to judge us by.

I have given, received, bought, sold, traded and swapped many items with fellow Bristol owners on this forum and all of the transactions were amicable and nobody else's business.

If I needed a temp gauge, I would be delighted to get one for the price you are asking -- I'm sure that a new one for any modern car would be much more and be far more readily available ! In fact, let me know which Bristol model you own , as I may have a good swap deal for you :-)

Default Temperature Gauge still for sale!

This temperature gauge is still for sale.To my amazement, the "buyer" refused to respond to my email, which enclosed photos,& asked him to confirm whether it was what he wanted. This despite a reminder-makes you despair!

Do you know that he received your email?

Email is not an infallible means of communication. There are numerous reasons that it may not have been received or read.

Why not just post the photos in this thread?
